Mother's Day Jammies

Another wonderful Mother's Day.
(note the slightly tired eyes...I could have slept longer :o)
Harvey gave me snuggley, flanny pajamas, perfect for my lazy couched MD.
Certain people in this family are somewhat Lego mad.
They are trying to suck me in so I was also given some 'girl' Lego which is pretty cool.
Emma, the Lego girl has long brown hair and works with fabric.
She has a big cutting desk, design board, stash draws and even a ruler.
Just like me :o)

Love it.

Happy Mother's Day ladies.

Late night quilting

I started May with another finish.
This quilt is destined for a friends soon to be born bubba girl.
Backed in a very bright pink with white spot.
I have finally pieced this quilt top.
I'm pondering if it needs a border or two.
I'm thinking a 2 inch border, maybe in aqua with a coordinating print about six inches wide.
Any thoughts?
It's a very busy quilt, but I love it.

My helper...
Some late night quilting last night. I was having a great time even thought I sewed through my nail (really stupid!) and then ran out of thread. Probably lucky as it was already really late.

Does anyone have issues with puckering when crossing over quilting lines?
I'm having issues on the front of the quilt so there's no chance of doing any cross-hatching.
I'm strongly considering a new machine but in the meantime it would be great to solve the problem.

I have a 20+ year old Janome Memory Craft 7000.

In the nick of time

Another finish for the 12 in 2012 Challenge from AJ.

I've just finished binding this super bright baby quilt.
I've been hankering to make a rainbow quilt for quite a while.
So I did.

The day after piecing it (while he napped) I decided to stipple quilt it (while he napped - it was a perfectly timed nap from basting to the last stipple :o).
Instead of dropping my feed dogs (which have a broken mechanism and Mr Cp has to take the bottom of the machine off to get them back up) I decided to put some masking tape over them.
It worked a treat.

My stippling still needs practice but I am fairly happy with how it went.

I also used pre-made bias binding for the first.
Next time I'll fully machine it on, not hand stitch it down on the back, but all in all it was good.
Thanks Jules - she's my binding dealer ;o)

Thank you to all those that have filled in the survey, it's a great help.
I'll leave it up for a little longer.

Survey says

I have a favour to ask you, my crafty friends...

Some of you may be aware that I have been planning on pursuing a crafting business dream and crunch time is nearing. What do I need from you?

It's as simple as....Information!

Would you fill in a survey for me?

I really appreciate your time!
Please, point others in my direction as I'd love as many opinions as possible.

We partied!

Mr CP bought Harvey a special present.
A spinning top - remember those?
He loves it.
He also loves the box it came in.
Do those eyes look a little partied out?
It was a BIG day.
There was a LOT of wonderful prezzies to open.
Mr CP also made Harvey's birthday cake.
It tasted as good as it looks.
Proof was in the tasting. I ate several pieces as I handed it around :o)

We had a wonderful afternoon with family and friends.
Proof again of just how lucky we are.

I'm hoping to get some sewing in over the next few days. I have been busy at work and with party organising but I'll finally have some crafty time. Other than planning that little wedding shindig....

FIRST

They say there is a first for everything.
They are right.

Yep, it's been a good first year.

Thank you all so much for the love and support in blogland.
We are having a quiet celebration tomorrow and a lovely big party with family and friends soon.

We are so very blessed with our boy.
Happy 1st Birthday
Harvey!

Love Mummy xx

I've been busy and stuff

I desperately wanted to get another WIP finished so I knuckled down and got the binding on this table runner today. It was made and hand quilted several years ago but I ran out of steam (again!) and put it away. I wasn't impressed with my perle thread, hand quilting skills at the time.
I tried out fully machine sewing the binding for the first time. Worked fairly well and certainly something I will do again on things like table runners, utility quits etc.
So I've been busy because there have been lots of first happening (other than all the wedding planning of course). Harvey went to Family Day Care for the first time.
Do you think he was chuffed with his new lunch box?
He seems to love it. I spied on him today and he was happily messing about in the playroom with the other kids. The carer is great and even better, she lives right across the road so if I really wanted to visit or we're running late - it's no big deal.

The other first was me going back to (paid) work as a part timer.
Unfortunately the company did not make the transition easy at all and during negotiations their communication was ridiculously poor which caused me a lot of stress.
So far it feels a bit surreal to be back after a whole year off. Everything has changed but it's still the same.
Very weird...

Anyway, I'm glad to tick off another WIP and lodge another entry in AJ's comp.

I've been missing you, my bloggy friends.

Ps. There's another HUGE first this Tuesday.
Yep, it's been a year already!!
